ARES Technical Services has been awarded a $226 million contract by NASA to provide safety and mission assurance services at the agency’s facilities in Maryland and Virginia.
Safety and Mission Assurance Services III Contract Scope
NASA said Monday the Safety and Mission Assurance Services III contract covers support for the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland and the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.
Under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, ARES will conduct independent surveillance, audits, reviews and assessments encompassing design, development, test and mission operations at both NASA and supplier facilities. The SMAS III contract aims to help enhance the operations and safety of NASA’s missions from design through deployment.
The McLean, Virginia-based space and defense company will conduct the work during the contract’s five-year ordering period, starting June 1. The deal comes with an optional six-month extension period.
