Anduril Industries has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Dublin, Ireland-based Klas, an engineering and design company specializing in edge computing and tactical communications.
Boosting Autonomous Systems and Connected Warfare
Anduril said Monday the planned acquisition aims to boost the defense technology company’s portfolio of autonomous systems and connected warfare capabilities with Klas’ hardware. It intends to enhance its capability to deliver integrated offerings for operations in demanding environments at the tactical edge.
Through the acquisition, Anduril can leverage its Lattice software platform and autonomy and sensor capabilities with Klas’ compute and networking infrastructure to develop a lightweight and adaptable defense system that can be rapidly deployed, easily maintained and is more resilient.
Modern military operations demand adaptable compute and connectivity that can function in any environment, regardless of infrastructure limitations. Klas’ Voyager series is designed to withstand high temperatures, jamming, dust and contested environments. The compute and networking systems series is already integrated into Anduril’s Menace family of systems and utilized to support ground, maritime and air domains operations.
The acquisition strengthens the ability of autonomous systems to operate with advanced computing and communication infrastructure. It integrates their capabilities to create a system that reinforces the ability to make real-time decisions, coordination and mission execution.
Klas will still operate from its Dublin and U.S. facilities. It intends to expand its manufacturing capabilities to integrate the increased demand from Anduril’s portfolio.
