The company said Monday it will deliver CLS for the T-54A multi engine training system, or METS, in line with the Navy’s efforts to replace the T-44C aircraft and update its training aircraft fleet. Amentum will work with both the Navy and Textron, the original equipment manufacturer, on this project.
Under the contract, Amentum will provide fleet management support to the METS program to enhance the Navy’s pilot training program. The company will also support the Chief of Naval Air Training by delivering the latest multi-engine platform.
The task order, under the Contracted Maintenance, Modification, Aircrew and Related Services indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple award contract, started its transition phase on June 1, while full performance began on Sept. 1. It comes with a one-year base period and four one-year option periods. Work will be performed at the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in Texas.
Karl Spinnenweber, president of the mission solutions group at Amentum, highlighted the company’s extensive experience in providing comprehensive fleet management, stating, “Our team, understanding the critical nature of our mission, excels in the accelerated pilot training environment and is fully committed to providing ready-to-train aircraft every single day.”
The METS program will train pilots to transition into advanced multi-engine and tilt-rotor fleet aircraft, including the V-22 Osprey, E-2D Hawkeye, C-130 Hercules and P-8 Poseidon. This is intended to ensure operational readiness until 2055.
