Air Force to Transition IT Contracts to Potential $8B MPE Info Sharing Contract

The Air Force has notified industry of the expanded scope of its proposed Mission Partner Environment acquisition effort that seeks to combine expiring contracts for information sharing systems and could be worth between $8B and $10B, Bloomberg Government reported Tuesday.

MPE works to combine data from various sources to facilitate sharing of military intelligence and information with federal, local, state and tribal government agencies, private sector, nongovernmental organizations and allied countries.

The expanded scope for the Mission Partner Command and Control and Intelligence Information Sharing Capabilities program includes operations, maintenance and sustainment of legacy systems; cybersecurity oversight and independent validation and verification; enterprise architecture and integration; enterprise transformation to include the Secret and Below Research Environment; and combatant command and other stakeholder requirements.

BGOV said there are three IT contracts that will transition to the proposed $8B MPE acquisition initiative and those are the potential $5.3B Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation Systems Extended or BICES-X contract held by General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), the $385M MPE network engineering services contract awarded to Vykin and the potential $998M MPE-compatible support services contract secured by Trace Systems.

The secretary of the Air Force concepts, development and management office sought information on the initiative in February and now plans to release a draft performance work statement in July and a draft solicitation within 45 days of the draft PWS. The service intends to hold industry days and one-on-one meetings between August and September and issue a final request for proposals before Thanksgiving.
