AeroVironment (Nasdaq: AVAV) has secured a U.S. Army contract worth $990 million to equip dismounted infantry formations with an organic, stand-off capability.
The Department of Defense said Tuesday the capability is for destroying tanks, light armored vehicles, hardened targets, defilade and personnel targets.
The cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price contract has an estimated completion date of Aug. 26, 2029. Each order under the award will determine work locations and funding.
AeroVironment was the sole bidder for the hybrid contract, whose solicitation was held via the internet.
Army Contracting Command serves as the contracting activity.
The company was also tapped, in November 2022, to provide operations and maintenance support to the Army’s Puma long endurance and RQ-20B all environment unmanned aircraft systems under an $86.4 million contract.
