Mohammed Khan
Aerojet Rocketdyne has hired Mohammed Khan Jr., formerly vice president for government, commercial and international space systems initiatives at Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA), to serve as senior VP of the Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings (NYSE: AJRD) subsidiary’s new defense business unit.
Khan will report to CEO and President Eileen Drake and oversee company programs with its propulsion system partners, the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy and international defense agencies, Aerojet Rocketdyne said Monday.
“Mohammed brings a significant amount of industry and military leadership to Aerojet Rocketdyne, including a deep understanding of the current and future capability needs of our defense customers,” said Drake.
He served in the Air Force for 21 years and worked in the areas of strategy development, program management, budget, operations, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, flight, space launch and missile defense before his retirement in 2010 as a colonel.
Khan will be based at the recently established Aerojet Rocketdyne defense business unit’s headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama.
The company is in the process of a reorganization that aims to consolidate and modernize operations over the next two years in efforts to drive its competitive posture.
Aerojet Rocketdyne plans to move all defense-related work from Sacramento, California, to Huntsville by the end of 2018.
