Factory has appointed Connor Maloney, a former Rubrik executive, as head of federal to lead the software development company’s growth in the public sector market.
The company announced the appointment on Oct. 8.
What Did Factory Leaders Say About Maloney’s Appointment?
Matan Grinberg, co-founder and CEO of Factory, said Maloney’s focus on mission outcomes matches the approach the company is taking as it builds its federal business.
“We help federal teams modernize while keeping the security controls their programs require,” Grinberg said. “Connor is mission-aligned and focused on delivering outcomes in the public sector. That’s the approach I want at Factory as we build our federal business.”
In a LinkedIn post, Marcello Gallo, chief revenue officer at Factory, described the federal government as the world’s largest technology organization and said Factory is investing heavily in autonomous software engineering, which he expects to play a critical role in public sector innovation, to help agencies modernize software development across cloud, on-premises and air-gapped environments while keeping control of their data and models.
“He brings a deep understanding of how agencies evaluate new technologies, is an expert at building lasting partnerships, and has a deep sense of responsibility to the mission and the people who depend on it,” Gallo wrote of Maloney.
Who Is Connor Maloney?
Maloney is a technology executive whose career covers both federal service and leadership roles at commercial software companies, according to Factory.
He started out as a program manager at the Department of War and later moved to the private sector, where he built and managed teams at ServiceNow and DataRobot. Before joining Factory, he served as vice president of federal at Rubrik.
Commenting on his new role, Maloney noted that federal agencies need advanced software capabilities that can operate within secure and regulated environments.
“Factory is built from the ground up to meet the needs of modern commercial and defense software engineering teams and is a step change in ability at a critical time,” he said.
What Is Factory?
Factory is a San Francisco-based software development company that uses autonomous systems to carry out and continually refine engineering work under engineers’ direction. Its commercial customers include NVIDIA, Blackstone and RBC.
The company’s platform lets organizations choose the AI model for each task and control where the system runs. Customers can use it as a managed service, deploy it through Factory Private in their own cloud or on-premises environments, or run it in air-gapped settings.
Maloney’s appointment comes as Factory continues to grow. The company recently partnered with Carahsoft to make its platform available to federal, state and local agencies through Carahsoft’s reseller network and contract vehicles. Factory also opened offices in Japan and raised $200 million at a $5 billion valuation.
