Cherokee Federal, a Cherokee Nation Businesses division, has tapped longtime government contracting executive Terri Malone to serve as its chief growth officer starting Oct. 12.

What Will Malone Oversee at Cherokee Federal?

The company said Malone will direct its enterprise growth strategy, with responsibility for business development, capture management, proposal development, market intelligence and strategic expansion into new markets. Her role will also involve coordinating with business and functional executives to ensure the company’s growth targets reflect what customers require and what Cherokee Federal can deliver.

Who Is Terri Malone?

Malone is a defense executive with 25 years of federal contracting experience spanning growth, strategy, program management and operations. She previously served as Serco North America’s senior vice president and chief growth officer for more than four years, overseeing the company’s corporate growth strategy and strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions.

She spent more than 20 years at Northrop Grumman in business development, strategy and operations roles, including vice president of mission readiness and protective systems, vice president of business development, director of strategy, and department manager for spectrum and sensor management systems.

Malone is also the chair of the business development group for Executive Mosaic’s 4×24 Leadership Series, an invitation-only networking and professional development program for senior-level government contracting executives.

Malone will reunite with Tom Watson, a two-time Wash100 Award winner who was recently named president of Cherokee Federal. The two previously worked together at Serco, where Watson was CEO of the $2 billion North American business.

“Terri understands growth from both sides of the business: what it takes to build a disciplined pipeline and what it takes to deliver once you win,” Watson said.
