Peraton Appoints Former Army Under Secretary Gabe Camarillo as Defense Sector President

Peraton has named former Army Under Secretary Gabe Camarillo president of its defense sector. The company said Thursday the move aims to strengthen its executive leadership team as it expands support for military modernization and mission-critical defense programs.

In his new role, Camarillo will lead initiatives to deliver advanced technologies and mission-specific technologies to U.S. warfighters and allied forces operating in contested environments.

What Experience Does Gabe Camarillo Bring?

Camarillo joins Peraton after serving as senior vice president of defense technology solutions at KBR, where he led a multibillion-dollar portfolio supporting defense technology programs for U.S. and allied military customers.

Prior to KBR, he served as the Army’s 35th under secretary from February 2022 to January 2025, overseeing Army operations, modernization priorities, budget development and acquisition efforts. As one of the top Army officials, he helped lead reforms tied to software acquisition, foreign military sales and digital engineering policy.

“We are excited to welcome Gabe to the Peraton team,” said Bob Genter, president and chief operating officer of Peraton and a past Wash100 Award recipient. “His rare combination of senior government service, defense acquisition expertise, and industry leadership makes him uniquely positioned to drive our Defense sector forward.”

What Other Leadership Roles Has Camarillo Held?

Before returning to government service, Camarillo spent nearly five years at SAIC, where he held several senior vice president roles supporting Army, Naval Sea Systems Command and Naval Air Systems Command business operations.

Prior to SAIC, he served as assistant secretary of the Air Force for manpower and reserve affairs and was previously the Army’s principal deputy assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology.

“Delivering capabilities to our warfighters at speed is vital to our national security, and I am proud to join this talented team and to strengthen and expand our support to U.S. warfighters and allies,” Camarillo said.

Camarillo holds a law degree from Stanford Law School and a bachelor’s degree in government from Georgetown University.
