B/CORE has strengthened its national security portfolio through the acquisition of Fuel Consulting, deepening its commitment to intelligence community and Department of War missions.
How Will the Acquisition Expand B/CORE’s Capabilities?
In a press release sent to GovCon Wire on Thursday, the national security technology company stated that the transaction integrates Fuel Consulting’s advisory and mission operations expertise with B/CORE’s rapid technology adaptation capability. B/CORE noted that this combination is designed to address complex defense and intelligence challenges at a speed the traditional contracting model cannot match. By uniting mission advisers with technologists, B/CORE aims to close the gap between operational needs and deployed capabilities faster than either organization could alone.
“We are gaining mission-fluent operators who understand why the problem matters, not people who build in the abstract,” said Chad Kim, CEO of B/CORE. “The combination of deep mission context and rapid technology adaptation is what the IC needs right now.”
What Is Fuel Consulting?
Fuel Consulting was founded by Heidi Gerhards and has spent nearly two decades supporting directorates and mission centers across the intelligence community.
It provides services focused on organizational transformation, governance frameworks and implementation of technology initiatives designed to deliver measurable mission outcomes.
According to B/CORE, Fuel Consulting’s team averages about 27 years of experience, with many team members working alongside agency customers for over a decade in critical environments.
Kim praised Gerhards’ leadership in founding Fuel Consulting. “She created a company grounded in trust, humility, and mission-first execution. That’s why her team has been welcomed into some of the most important spaces in the IC,” he said.
What Role Will Heidi Gerhards Play After the Fuel Consulting Acquisition?
Gerhards is now part of B/CORE as a senior leader focused on strengthening customer engagement and advancing mission delivery initiatives.
“I’ve always led Fuel with a mission-first mentality,” Gerhards said. “Our focus has been helping agencies put technology to work in ways that advance the mission and show real impact. B/CORE operates with the same
urgency and the same commitment to mission intimacy. Together, we will deepen those relationships and move faster for our partners.”
