DC Capital Partners-backed Valkyrie Enterprises has bought Optical Sciences Corp. for an undisclosed sum as part of efforts to expand its missile defense and space sensor test capabilities.
Providing Hardware-In-The-Loop Test Support Across DOD
Huntsville, Alabama-based OSC provides electro-optical and infrared scene projector and test systems to support missile defense, space sensor development and advanced aviation applications. It also offers hardware-in-the-loop, or HWIL, test and simulation support across the Department of Defense.
Valykryie said Friday OSC will be key in supporting Next Generation Interceptor, Conventional Prompt Strike, Golden Dome and other major programs.
“OSC’s proprietary technology with Valkyrie’s current capabilities brings our customers a single source for a leading, more robust, integrated, and low-risk test and simulation capability for advanced weapon systems,” said Dave Street, president and CEO of Valkyrie.
Jim Buford to Oversee OSC’s Integration With Valkyrie
OSC President Brett Beasley will continue to lead the OSC division, which will be integrated with Valkyrie’s current operation in Huntsville.
Jim Buford, vice president of Army and joint programs at Valkyrie and an HWIL subject matter expert, will oversee OSC’s integration with Valkyrie.
“While Valkyrie and OSC have partnered together for many years, this combination will improve the integration of Valkyrie’s HWIL motion table and scene projector capabilities in order to enhance our position as a top-tier modeling and simulation test provider,” said Buford.
Jack Goldstein, principal at DC Capital, said that as part of Valkyrie, OSC will invest in expanded production capacity to meet client demand and advance the launch of its next-generation scene projector.
“Although OSC projectors have been sold to government labs across the country, engineering and lab support from OSC was historically limited to local Alabama labs. With Valkyrie’s nationwide presence, OSC can now deliver that same high-touch lab support across the U.S., strengthening service to our clients and their missions,” Goldstein added.
