York Space Systems' Parent Company Buying ATLAS

York Space Systems’ parent company is acquiring ATLAS Space Operations to secure access to the latter’s software-led ground architecture offering.

According to a press release published Friday, the acquisition would support York’s proposed Golden Dome architecture, designed to unify spacecraft, software and ground operations to deliver full-spectrum capabilities across contested environments.

ATLAS Provides Ground Software as a Service Through Freedom Platform

The ATLAS Freedom platform serves as a single API point to a global network of over 50 antennas, enabling real-time tasking, automated scheduling and seamless data delivery via cloud, said York. With the platform, ATLAS shifts the complexity of satellite communications from hardware to software, offering a flexible and scalable solution for government and commercial clients.

The acquisition, pending Federal Communications Commission approval and other customary closing conditions, will combine York’s high-performance spacecraft and software-defined operations with the Freedom platform to boost its ability to deliver integrated, mission-ready systems.
