In honor of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson has shared a heartfelt remembrance for his uncle Elmer Francis “Frank” Garrettson Jr., who served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II.
Garrettson, who founded Executive Mosaic and the Potomac Officers Club in 2002 as a way to foster connections between government contracting industry members who are helping to protect and fortify the U.S., shared the following on LinkedIn on Friday afternoon:
Today, I honor and remember my uncle, WWII veteran Elmer Francis Garrettson Jr., affectionately known as “Frank.” His bravery and sacrifice were evident when he was tragically killed in action on September 25th, 1942, during an offensive against Imperial Japanese Forces near the Lunga River on Guadalcanal Island. Frank, who grew up on Pine Acres Blvd in Brightwaters, NY, served his country with unwavering honor and dedication. His legacy fills me with great pride in the Marine Corps and the United States of America. Let us never forget the incredible sacrifices made by our military heroes. We are forever grateful for their service. The ultimate sacrifice by “Uncle Frank” is in my heart and mind as Executive Mosaic serves those that serve the mission.
