Saalex, a Camarillo, California-based federal services contractor, has acquired Spalding Consulting for approximately $75 million as part of efforts to expand its information technology, engineering and software development capabilities in the aerospace and defense market.
Founded in 2001, Lexington Park, Maryland-based Spalding Consulting also provides financial management, program management and big data analytics platforms and services for customers across the Department of Defense, according to a joint release published Tuesday.
Saalex will operate Spalding as its wholly owned subsidiary and expects to grow into an organization with more than 1,200 employees and over $175 million in annual revenues through the deal.
Spalding’s executive leadership team will remain with the company through the transition period.
The transaction expands Saalex’s East Coast footprint, providing it access to a key client at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Patuxent River base in Maryland.
Travis Mack, chairman and CEO of Saalex, said the transaction aligns with the company’s expansion objectives.
“It allows us to grow our largest customer base, gain access to additional federal agencies, and enhances our software-development services,” added Mack.
