Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) elevated the role of Jay Watson from director of advanced strategic programs to vice president of strategic reentry programs at the company’s missile defense operations, he announced in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday.
Watson has been with Lockheed for almost three decades, joining in 1995 as engineering and science manager.
Part of his responsibilities as engineering and science manager was to lead the electrical engineering team that supported the U.S. Air Force Reentry System Program. After 14 years, he was appointed senior program manager for fuzing and sustainment and later deputy director of Air Force Strategic Programs.
In 2017, Watson led the reentry development program for fleet ballistic missiles. He became director of advanced strategic programs for space missiles and defense in 2019.
