TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 1, 2021 — Raytheon Technologies‘ (NYSE: RTX) missiles and defense business has received a Missile Defense Agency award to participate in a program focused on the development and demonstration of a hypersonic missile interceptor meant to counter threats in the glide phase of flight, ExecutiveBiz reported Nov. 22.
“[Glide Phase Interceptor]’s speed, ability to withstand extreme heat, and maneuverability will make it the first missile designed to engage this advanced threat,” said Tay Fitzgerald, vice president for strategic missile defense at Raytheon Missiles & Defense.
