Under the American Rescue Plan, Biden proposes a $9B investment to help the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the General Services Administration launch new cybersecurity and IT shared services.
The package would allocate $200M for the IT Oversight and Reform fund to accelerate hiring of tech professionals in support of the U.S. Digital Service and the federal chief information security officer; $300M for GSA’s Technology Transformation Services to advance secure IT projects; and $690M in additional funds for CISA to improve cybersecurity and pilot cloud and shared security services.
Biden’s proposal comes as the U.S. government deals with a SolarWinds cyber incident allegedly linked to Russian threat actors.
