The State Department has approved Taiwan’s request to buy high mobility artillery rocket system launchers, AGM-84H standoff land attack missile-expanded response systems, MS-110 recce pods and related equipment and services under three foreign military sales agreements worth approximately $1.8B combined.
Taiwan requested to procure 135 units of AGM-84H SLAM-ER missiles, related telemetry and captive air training missiles, containers, repair parts, training, logistics and engineering support services under a potential $1B FMS contract, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) will serve as the principal contractor in the transaction, which seeks to help Taiwan improve its capability against current and future threats and counter aggressions.
Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) missile and fire control business will be the prime contractor in another FMS deal valued at $436.1M, which includes the purchase of HIMARS M142 launchers, related weapons systems and services in support of Taiwan’s efforts to strengthen homeland defense and deter regional threats.
The State Department also cleared Taiwan’s request to purchase six MS-110 recce pods, fixed and transportable ground stations, related equipment and services under a potential $367.2M transaction. Raytheon Technologies’ (NYSE: RTX) Collins Aerospace subsidiary will serve as the principal contractor.
DSCA said it notified Congress of the deals Wednesday.
