Egypt's requested system will comprise of multisite fixed and mobile multisite acquisition radars and radio communications, closed-circuit television, power generation, data distribution and automatic identification systems, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
The proposed sale also includes electro-optical/infrared sensors, vertical takeoff and landing unmanned aerial vehicles, integrated fixed towers, intrusion detection technologies and aerostat systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
DSCA noted the agreement will require the deployment of U.S. government and contractor personnel to perform technical assessments, oversight and support services over a five-year period.
The agency added that the Egyptian military will use the system to monitor and protect their country's maritime zone.
