David Abney, former CEO of UPS (NYSE: UPS) and current executive chairman of the global logistics provider, has been appointed to the board of directors at Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).
Abney led UPS as its chief executive from 2014 through May of this year, Northrop said Wednesday.
He spent more than 17 years at the parcel delivery company and previously served as its chief operating officer and president of its international segment.
“His experience leading a complex, global business will be extremely valuable as we continue to position our company for long-term growth,” said Kathy Warden, chairman, CEO and president of Northrop and 2020 Wash100 Award recipient.
In addition to his industry roles, Abney serves as a trustee of the UPS Foundation and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. He is also a member of the boards of Macy’s and nonprofit organization Catalyst.
