Eric Trexler, vice president of global governments and critical infrastructure sales at Forcepoint, has said that federal agencies cloud migration plans should include ensuring security through behavioral analytics and network visibility.
In a Nextgov guest piece published Wednesday, Trexler wrote that agencies should deploy real-time analytics and have a foundational knowledge of normal network behavior to identify suspicious users and prevent unauthorized access to confidential information.
“Agencies cant afford to sit back. They need to shed light on the shadows and put security at the forefront of the march toward cloud adoption,” he said.
Procurement of cloud services must be accompanied by a robust and proactive security postureand a critical part of that posture is understanding the data and how users interact with it.”
Trexler recommended the use of a cloud access security broker that provides real-time monitoring and behavioral analytics services for applications that run within agency IT environments.
