Chris Shank Named Maxar National Security Space VP

Chris Shank, former director of the Pentagon’s Strategic Capabilities Office, has been named vice president of national security space at Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR).

The 25-year public and private sector veteran will be responsible for overseeing sales, account management, business development and service delivery functions across the company’s national security customer base, Maxar said Thursday.

Shank noted that his efforts will focus on hardware-based offerings and he also plans to bring together some of the firm’s Earth intelligence and space infrastructure services in an effort to offer integrated mission systems to customers.

As the head of SCO, he helped develop approaches for the joint force to address emerging threats in different domains. He joined the office in August 2018 after serving as VP at consulting firm Van Scoyoc Associates.

His government career also included time as policy director for the House Science, Space and Technology Committee and director of strategic investments at NASA headquarters.

Between 2009 and 2011, Shank worked as senior director of space, networks and communications business development at Honeywell International (NYSE: HON)’s aerospace segment.

Shank spent nearly 11 years at the U.S. Air Force as an officer.
