Northrop to Update Common Infrared Countermeasure System Under $482M Army Contract

Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a potential five-year, $481.6M contract to help the U.S. Army update a system designed to protect aircraft against sophisticated infrared missiles.

The company will provide quick-reaction capability 3 of the Common Infrared Countermeasure system under the cost-no-fee, cost-plus-incentive-fee and firm-fixed-price contract, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

CIRCM, which employs an open systems architecture, obtained a Milestone C decision from the DoD in September 2018.

Army Contracting Command received one bid for the hybrid contract and will provide location and funding details upon issuance of individual orders.

The Pentagon expects work to conclude by July 30, 2024.
