Todd Probert
TYSONS CORNER, VA, January 9, 2018 Todd Probert, vice president of mission support and modernization at Raytheon (NYSE: RTN), has said commercial software development could be a key focus of the Department of Defense in 2019 as it works to accelerate weapons systems procurement, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
“Focusing on commercial-style software development is how well be able to develop truly open, upgradeable, cyber-resilient systems quickly,” Probert told C4ISRNet in a report published Jan. 2.
He noted that the shift in approach will drive the DoD’s exploration of more advanced technologies like artificial intelligence with the goal to sustain the U.S. military’s competitive edge.
