Cubic to Provide Mobile App for Update of SF Bay Area’s Fare Payment System


TYSONS CORNER, VA, October 1, 2018 — A Cubic (NYSE: CUB) business unit will work with Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) to update the smart card-based fare payment technology serving the San Francisco Bay Area under a $394M contract from the region’s transportation agency, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

Cubic Transportation Systems said Thursday it will develop an integrated mobile application that will enable commuters to use their phones to access travel information, plan their journey, reload accounts and pay transit fares through the current Clipper system.

Microsoft will provide financial, analytic and customer management software that Cubic will integrate into Clipper as well as help operate the new payment platform.
