AWS Program Hosts Hubble Telescope Data in Cloud for Free Public Access

TYSONS CORNER, VA, September 10, 2018 — An Amazon Web Services program has been helping the Space Telescope Science Institute keep space observation data collected by the Hubble Space Telescope available to the public as well as researchers free of cost, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

The company said Thursday the AWS Public Dataset program has enabled STScI to host 28 years of Hubble-collected images in the cloud via Amazon Simple Storage Service, which also provides for the computing power required in large-scale analysis and scientific research.
