TYSONS CORNER, VA, August 22, 2018 Rob Zitz, senior vice president and chief strategy officer for government systems at SSL, has said small satellites will be a key element of defense and intelligence agencies’ strategy in the next few years as they seek to build on the capabilities of large government spacecraft, ExecutiveBiz reported Aug. 8.
“We see growth in terms of contracts and in terms of studies we believe will lead to very large contracts for these smaller satellites,” Zitz said in a Space News report published Aug. 7.
The report noted that those studies and contracts, as well as the company’s recent reorganization, are aimed to position the Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR) subsidiary for a projected growth in activity in the small satellite market.
