TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 31, 2018 Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of the space business at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and a three-time Wash100 awardee, has said the U.K. government’s effort to further build the local space industry centers on rapid access to space at less cost, similar to the strategy implemented in the U.S., ExecutiveBiz reported July 18.
“As the U.K. develops its space industry further, I think youll see bigger economics from the mini-satellites and the value they create from data, from science, and from military missions,” Ambrose said at a news event discussing future spaceports in the U.K., according to a Space News report published July 17.
The report noted Lockheed, which has made adjustments in its manufacturing lines to accommodate the move to “smaller and faster space,” is now poised to help shape the U.K. spaceflight program.
