TYSONS CORNER, VA, Jan. 8, 2018 Diane Gongaware, vice president of U.S. public sector services at Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO), has said that a “proactive” approach to cybersecurity can help government agencies detect and respond to threats faster and mitigate the effects of cyber attacks, ExecutiveBiz reported Dec. 27.
Gongaware wrote in a FedTech article that is critical for agencies to perform risk assessments in order to know the types of information threat actors want from an agency as well as to understand how data is utilized and shared across agency networks.
“Once an agency identifies its valuable information, understands how that information is used and pinpoints ways to protect that information, it can then execute against a cybersecurity strategy that proactively responds to security events and best mitigates the impact of breaches,” she concluded.
