Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received an $80 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to perform design agent engineering and technical support services for the Phalanx close-in and land-based weapon systems as well as the SeaRAM missile defense platform.
The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday the award includes foreign military sales to Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Canada, U.K., South Korea, Portugal and Greece.
Phalanx CWS works to detect, track and disrupt anti-ship missile threats that have penetrated outer defense systems.
SeaRAM is designed to combine elements of Phalanx and the RAM guided weapon system as well as protect ships from supersonic and subsonic threats such as cruise missiles, drones and helicopters.
Raytheon will primarily perform work in Arizona, California, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, New York and Texas through January 2019.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $2,170,25 at the time of award from the Navy’s fiscal year 2018 weapons procurement funds.
