TYSONS CORNER, VA, Nov. 7, 2017 Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) CEO Matt Desch has indicated the company completed pricing negotiations with SpaceX for future launches of Iridium NEXT satellites using previously flown rocket first stages, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.
Space Intel Report reported Thursday that Iridium secured a deal with SpaceX for lower pricing on the fourth and fifth Iridium NEXT launches aboard the latter company’s Falcon 9 rockets with reused first stages.
Desch, an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017, noted the launches with previously used stages serve to facilitate schedule assurance while the cost reduction provided a “financially positive” agreement.
