TYSONS CORNER, VA, Nov. 3, 2017 Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) has completed static test firings of a solid rocket motor prototype that the company built with metal components produced using the additive manufacturing process, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
The company said Wednesday the test series is the industry’s first demonstration of a 3D-printed rocket nozzle and closure assembly as part of a tactical rocket motor that the U.S. Army‘s Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center helped develop for anti-tank missile systems.
