TYSONS CORNER, VA, Oct. 30, 2017 Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has rolled out a sunshield subsystem for NASA‘s James Webb Space Telescope that utilizes five NeXolve-manufactured layers made of Kapton that work to protect the observatory’s optics, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.
The company said Thursday it has also fully tensioned the sunshield layers for the first time ahead of further folding, stowing and tensioning as part of tests to prepare the James Webb telescope for launch.
