Al Whitmore, former senior vice president of the global solutions division at General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) information technology business unit, has been named president of intelligence and security sector at BAE Systems‘ U.S. subsidiary in a move that takes effect Oct. 16.
He will lead BAE Systems Inc.‘ I&S sector headquartered in McLean, Virginia, and join the subsidiary’s management team led by Jerry DeMuro, the company said Wednesday.
Al brings more than three decades of experience delivering information technology and communications services to government and commercial customers, said DeMuro.
At GDIT, Whitmore led the development and implementation of the unit’s investment strategy for core division technologies as well as its market expansion efforts and mentoring program.
He also spent 15 years at GTE Corp. in various business development and leadership roles before General Dynamics bought GTE’s government systems and laboratories businesses in 1999.
Whitmore currently serves as an executive committee member at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association’s board of directors.
