Los Alamos National Security has received a potential six-month, $65 million contract extension from the Energy Department to continue to perform environmental remediation work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.
The Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Bridge Contract will run through March 31, 2018, and covers soil and water remediation and solid waste stabilization efforts at the national lab that include decommissioning of nuclear facilities, DOE said Tuesday.
DOE said the contract extension seeks to provide the environmental management office enough time to complete the acquisition process for a long-term cleanup contract and prevent disruption to near-term work at the national lab.
