A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary has received a potential one-year, $341.1 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to provide engineering, planning yard, design agent and technical support for the service branch’s nuclear submarines.
The cost-plus-fixed-fee modification awarded to General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks to exercise the option on a contract awarded by the service branch in September 2014, the Defense Departmentsaid Friday.
The contract covers foreign military sales to Spain and includes design change documentation, configuration management, logistics technical data, mechanical, hull and electrical engineering, non-propulsion plant electrical system engineering and submarine safety design review.
The company will also provide training and facility support, design and installation services related to the configuration change program, as well as research, development, test and evaluation support for the Navy’s in-service submarines and submersibles.
Work will occur in Connecticut, Washington, Virginia, Rhode Island, Georgia and Hawaii through September 2018.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $6.5 million from FMS funds and the service’s “other†procurement funds for fiscal 2017 at the time of award.
