August 21st Market Close: GovConIndex Closes Up As Major Indices Close Mixed

The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) reversed last weeks downward trend to close up 0.133 percent to 99.026. Advancing and declining shares were almost evenly split on the day.

The major indices closed mixed with minor movement in either direction. The S&P500 advanced 0.12 percent to 2,428.37, while DJIA moved up by 0.13 percent to 21,703.75, and the NASDAQ Composite pulled back by 0.05 percent to 6,213.13.

Crude oil closed down on the day. WTI on the NY Mercantile Exchange ended the day down by 2.27 percent to $47.41 per barrel.
