TYSONS CORNER, VA, Aug. 18, 2017 Globecomm Systems has helped Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) equip the U.S. Navy‘s USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier with onboard communications and entertainment technologies as a subcontractor on the program, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.
Globecomm said Wednesday the carrier’s satellite and fiber-optic communications distribution infrastructure and internet protocol video system are part of the company’s work as a systems integration subcontractor to HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding arm.
“This was an engineering-intensive, five-year design, integration, assembly and testing program that represents a significant technological upgrade to the Navys existing analog system for video acquisition and onboard content delivery,” said Dwight Hunsicker, executive vice president and general manager of Globecomms government solutions business.
