TYSONS CORNER, VA, June 22, 2017 Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) is in its final preparations for the scheduled June 25 launch of the next batch of Iridium Next satellites aboard a SpaceXFalcon 9 rocket, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.
Get Connected reported Monday that this will be the second group of 10 satellites out of the 75 total that will be deployed to orbit and eventually replace legacy satellites deployed in the 1990s.
“Once deployed, this batch of satellites will be tested and validated and inserted one-by-one into our existing constellation, replacing our original block one satellites,” said Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium and an inductee into Executive Mosaics Wash100 for 2017.
