TYSONS CORNER, VA, May 8, 2017 ” Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Leonardo and Italy’s defense ministry have rolled out the first short-takeoff/vertical-landing variant of the F-35 fighter jet assembled outside the U.S., ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.
Lockheed said Friday it works with Leonardo to operate the Italian government-owned F-35 final assembly and checkout facility in Cameri, Italy, which houses full assembly of the F-35B STOVL variant as well as the conventional takeoff/landing F-35A variant.
The F-35B will have its first flight in August and delivery to the Italian ministry of defense in November.
