A BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT) subsidiary has secured additional work to manufacture naval nuclear reactor components for the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program through exercised contract options and new awards worth $795 million combined.
The company said MondayBWXT Nuclear Operations Group will perform various manufacturing and material procurement tasks in support of the construction of Ford-class carriers and Virginia-class submarines.
The exercised options worth $784 million and the $11 million in new contracts cover work at BWXT facilities in Indiana, Ohio and Virginia over the next several years.
The Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program includes military and civilian personnel tasked to build, design, maintain, manage and operate nuclear-powered ships as well as the facilities established to support the U.S. nuclear-powered naval fleet.
