The U.S. Navy has awarded Textron‘s (NYSE: TXT) Bell Helicopter subsidiary a $49.1 million contract to obtain long-lead materials and components needed to manufacture 27 lot 15 AH-1Z aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps.
Bell Helicopter will perform contract work in Fort Worth and Amarillo, Texas, through March 2018 under the advanced acquisition contract, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
The Naval Air Systems Command used the military branch’s fiscal 2017 aircraft procurement funds to cover the full obligated amount at the time of award.
DoD said the contract was not competitively procured in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1.
