TYSONS CORNER, VA, Jan. 20, 2017 The U.S. Army has awarded IBM (NYSE: IBM) a potential five-year, $62 million task order to create and manage an on-premise private cloud platform as part of the military service’s Army Private Cloud Enterprise program, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
IBM said Wednesday the task order also covers infrastructure-as-a-service support for the Army facility in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
“Clients today are increasingly looking at the cloud as a pathway to innovation, ” said Sam Gordy, general manager of IBMs federal business.
He added that the IBM cloud program will support the Army’s efforts to address security challenges resulting from multiple ingress and egress points.
