TYSONS CORNER, VA, Jan. 6, 2017 ” Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) CEO Matt Desch has stated the company’s Iridium NEXT satellite constellation project will seek to address the future requirements of government and private customers and provide a potential alternative to GPS navigation, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
“We see it having lots of opportunities to meet many future government needs, and more broadly our polar-based customers will see a more dramatic service upgrade, ” he said in an interview with ExecutiveBiz.
“Our partners are excited to see the new services get online as the remaining current satellites don™t have much more time.”
The initial Iridium NEXT satellites are scheduled to launch aboard a SpaceXFalcon 9 rocket Jan. 8.
