TYSONS CORNER, VA, Jan. 6, 2017 Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) CEO Matt Desch has stated the company’s Iridium NEXT satellite constellation project will seek to address the future requirements of government and private customers and provide a potential alternative to GPS navigation, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
“We see it having lots of opportunities to meet many future government needs, and more broadly our polar-based customers will see a more dramatic service upgrade, ” he said in an interview with ExecutiveBiz.
“Our partners are excited to see the new services get online as the remaining current satellites dont have much more time.”
The initial Iridium NEXT satellites are scheduled to launch aboard a SpaceXFalcon 9 rocket Jan. 8.
