TYSONS CORNER, VA, Sept. 12, 2016 Mitre has named Van Cleve & Associates and Open Works Engineering as the winners of its competition to test new systems that work to detect and counter small drones that could potentially pose a threat, GovCon Executive reported Friday.
The nonprofit organization said Thursday Van Cleeve’s DroneRANGER won the awards for best detection and determination system and best end-to-end system for a total prize of $80, 000 while Open Works’ SkyWall 100 won the $20, 000 award for best interdiction system at the Countering Unmanned Aircraft Systems Challenge.
