TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 6, 2016 — The U.K. government looks to stand up a local training center for remotely piloted aircraft such as the General Atomics-built MQ-9 Reaper as the U.S. training facility at Holloman Air Force Base limits slots for foreign allies, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

Flightglobal reported Thursday the U.S. Air Force has sought to prioritize training for U.S. pilots to address a domestic shortfall in pilots for unmanned aircraft systems, prompting the U.K. to seek discussions with MQ-9 training provider CAE (NYSE: CAE) on its own training needs.

“The U.K. does still have students [at Holloman], but I believe what has provided impetus is that it has become clear that they will not be able to fulfill their needs through the U.S. school, ” said Gene Colabatistto, CAE group president for defense and security.
