ViaSat Secures Potential $73M DISA Contract for Ku-Band/Ka-Band Communications Services


GPS satelliteThe Defense Information Systems Agency has awarded a potential $73.2 million contract to Carlsbad, California-based company ViaSat (Nasdaq: VSAT) to provide Ku-band and Ka-band communications for the agency’s senior leaders and support staff.

The Defense Department said Wednesday the contract covers ViaSat subscription-based services for personnel travelling aboard an aircraft.

The company will perform work in several locations including Carlsbad, its Denver networks operation center and government care centers through May 31, 2017, with two additional six-month option periods.

The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization will obligate $33 million from fiscal 2016 operations and maintenance funds, DoD added.

ViaSat offers government and military satellite communications, satellite systems, tactical data links, line-of-sight networks and other technologies for business, government and residential applications.
