TYSONS CORNER, VA, May 31, 2016 Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) will work with Facebook on a project to construct a subsea cable system across the Atlantic Ocean in support of efforts to expand their Internet and cloud services, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.
Frank Rey, director of global network acquisition for Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure and operations unit, wrote in a blog post published Thursday that the Marea submarine cable system will span more than 4, 000 miles.
Construction will begin in August and is expected to run through October 2017, the post stated.
