TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 12, 2016 Siemens has partnered with Airbus on the development of a hybrid electric propulsion system for passenger aircraft that could drive efforts to reduce noise and fuel consumption, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.
Airbus said Thursday a joint team of 200 employees will work on the project in preparation for technical demonstrations scheduled for 2020.
The project aims to provide the hybrid propulsion system to small passenger planes by 2030, the company added.
