TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 30, 2016 General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) have agreed on the U.S. Navy‘s new build strategy for the manufacture of the Virginia-class and Ohio-class submarines through 2023, ExecutiveBiz reported Tuesday.
USNI News reported Monday the Navy’s “Submarine Unified Build Strategy” puts General Dynamics Electric Boat as prime contractor in charge of both the Ohio Replacement Program and Virginia-class attack submarine program.
HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding unit will provide design support on the OR submarines and oversee final assembly of the attack submarines, the report said.
